Age in the Afterlife: Will I Recognize My Deceased Loved One When I Get There?
What age are we in the spirit world? Do children age? Will I recognize my loved one when I see him again?

When giving a talk about life after death, someone will inevitably ask me about age in the spirit world. Sometimes this is about a child who passed. It’s reasonable that a mother would want to know if her little boy or girl continues to grow up in the afterlife. Other times, the person wonders if they’ll recognize their husband when he greets her following her passing, especially if her husband died 30 years prior.
Many people ask about age in the afterlife because a medium told them their loved one is coming through at a certain age. This can be confusing when your 65-year-old mother shows herself to the medium as being 30 years old.
The age question is important because the answer teaches us about spirits. As I’ve noted in many of my articles, my article on the difference between the soul and the spirit is essential to read in reference to this question. If you’ve already read it, you’re on your way to understanding age in the afterlife.
I’ve written this article to answer these common questions. I’ll cover this subject from a few different angles.
