Wonderful article. As a Transpersonal Hypnotist my practice has evolved to where most of what I do is spiritual hypnosis. Your explanation and description of what happens in a session is spot on. Also, you’re correct that all people do not immediately have success because of inexperience, skepticism, etc. the most important aspect is the client’s willingness.
In my experience it is the client who leads and the hypnotist just guides/facilitates the experience. Most often it is the client’s subconscious that is in charge and takes the client to a time/place that is most beneficial for them to experience. Sometimes the experience is simply a metaphor that is needed to understand exactly what is happening in the client’s current life. But when working in the higher realms and the client experiences guides, angels, loved ones who have passed, and becomes aware of their higher self... that is when the true magic occurs. Hi Patty, I've trained mediums to always just relay the message, images, or feelings to their clients rather than make the interpretation. Many mediums give the interpretation because it's faster and feels great when it hits, but can be confusing when the interpretation is wrong.
I had a medium tell me once that the person in spirit loved coffee when, as it turned out, the spirit had owned a cat named Coffee (coffee-colored fur). If he had simply said, "He keeps saying the word coffee," I would have known he was referring to his cat. But because he said my deceased friend loved coffee, the message fell flat because he didn't.

Love the info in this article. As a psychic medium I have thought, many times, how to help clients connect more with their passed over loved ones. I have had wonderful contact from my father and I truly wish everyone could experience this. Some years ago I became interested in Dr. Raymond Moody's technique of using a psychomanteum. It's an ancient Greek method that is a type of scrying. I have not implemented it as part of my psychic medium practice. I have been through a couple of hypnosis sessions and they are awesome. Love how in your article you talk about some clients receive great experiences, some not much and others visitation from those they didn't expect. Just like the psychic medium world.

I agree that this is important information that isn't readily available to people, and the information about the challenges with it are too often overlooked in articles stating the benefits of experiences. I appreciate you noticing it. I think you could quite easily learn hypnosis yourself to add that to your repertoire of services. I think every medium would enjoy it because it benefits their clients from different angles. I know the psychomanteum and have even tried it. I think my skepticism or lack of patience got in the way ;-) I do think that hypnosis holds more promise for the general public, but that's just me.
