And again, your story is both something to remember and is certainly well written. My belief system is that intuition is most likely “voices” from our guides and angels. Beware, however the message is probably something you need to learn.
I’m so glad you survived. I told Jerry about your experience & he was so very surprised, to put it mildly. He practiced Allergy & Immunology for many years & he said Peanut Allergy is the one of the most dangerous & needs immediate attention. He said, “He could have died” given all the delays & the unprofessional behavior of the ignorant Intern (I hope she has been admonished & learned since).
I guess it was a valuable lesson for you & all your audience. Yes, & listen to that inner voice.
Thank you for sharing your story. Stay safe & well.
Thanks Maureen, I've been in the ER due to peanut allergies several times over my lifetime. Always at a restaurant and often while traveling. This one was the worst it ever got. Jerry will be surprised to hear that one time in Philadelphia, the ER triage nurse (not an intern this time) sent me to a waiting room filled with about 25 people. I'm not sure who is training these people. I had to leave and find another hospital. What was weird was when I arrived at the second hospital (where I was rushed inside for treatment), all the doctors and nurses were extremely attractive--both the men and women. I felt like I had walked onto the set of a soap opera. Maybe the peanut allergy had affected my brain. Now that I think of it, the treatment rooms were also quite lush, like a fancy hotel. Hmm, maybe it was endorphins making everything better cause I haven't been in a hospital like that since. Thanks for writing. My best wishes to you and Jerry.
Yes. On many occasions I heeded. A few times I did not..things went "South." I feel strongly these are of a Holy Spirit intervention. I've mentioned our loving Basenji before. One hot and nasty Sacramento summer I wanted to go see a movie. So I let the dog-Jennifer-out on the deck because if I had kept her inside, everything not tied down would be trashed. So I walk into the air conditioned movie house, sit down as the opening credits scroll. Within ten minutes an "Alert" hits my brain. "Someone" tells me "You left the dog on the deck and it's burning Hot!" I jump up and rush home to find Jennifer huffing and puffing. Another few minutes and it could have been over.
I like referring to it as a Holy Spirit intervention. I know that many readers will agree with me that I'm so glad you listened to your intuitive Alert! I'm sure the Tennessee sun is hot in the summer. You missed the movie but saved sweet Jennifer. I LOVE when people give their pets names that are common to people. I knew a cat named Steve. My friend, Ed, has a dog named Louie. And you were blessed with Jennifer. Thanks for sharing, Gene.
Thanks for sharing this remarkable story. It was a divine blessing that, given all the delays on the way, you actually survived that episode. It apparently was not your time to leave this world! Developing our intuition is really important. We all have it but it needs to be exercised like a muscle. The problem is that often the voice is so subtle and the immediate situation demands our attention, so we don't have time as you say always to ponder the warning.
That's so true, Shalini. The voice is often subtle, and human arrogance (at least my own) sometimes thinks we can control the situation to override its warnings. It's been interesting to write these stories because I recognize how fragile life is. I have three articles here on Bob Olson Connect -- The Incredible Awakening, As Luck Would Have It, and this peanut allergy story -- that all could have taken my life. I know that many of us can think back to several times when we narrowly escaped tragedy or death. Each memory makes me grateful for being healthy and alive, reminding me to never take life or health for granted. Thank you for your comment. I wish you joy and unlimited blessings.

Sent you to a waiting room full of people!! I do hope they were sanctioned or even better, fired!
You must have nine lives. So very glad you are OK.
As for the attractive docs & nurses - where was that hospital again?Just for future reference Hmmmm.
Please stay well & free of allergy reactions 🙏

Such a thrill ride!
I'm glad it was fun for you. This one was a bit more thrilling than you experienced, but you got a hint of it that evening. xo
