The Moment My Skepticism Around ENERGY HEALING Dissolved
When a knee injury failed to heal on its own after five months, I decided to test an energy healer in spite of my skepticism. This story illustrates what happened.
One day, a few years ago, I began a new exercise regimen that was more aerobic than anything I’d done in a long time. It turned out my body wasn’t ready for me to jump up in the air, bring my knees waist-high, then slap my hands on my legs midair.
First of all, that’s not an easy move to coordinate for the first time at my age, at least not for someone who spends most of his time behind a desk. Second, it wasn’t the jumping that was the issue; it was the landing that both shook the house and injured something in my left knee.
The full extent of the injury didn’t show itself instantly, but within a couple weeks, I wasn’t exercising or even walking all that well. Despite my limp, I was sure it would heal itself within a few days or weeks.
I was wrong. Five months later, it still hurt to walk, especially up and down stairs.
My Injury Wouldn’t Heal on Its Own
The pain was more annoying than aching. It felt like an elastic band inside my knee might snap at any moment. I expected I might need a cane if it got any worse. My biggest concern was that I might not be able to walk my dog Libby at some point, which was very important to me.
I walked Libby every morning and every evening. Sometimes it was the only thing that got me away from my work. After the injury, our morning walks got quite difficult because we walk in the woods with rocks, roots, dips, and ditches, twisting and trouncing my knee.
To me, the worst part was that I was no longer able to run or even jog with Libby. I’d become someone who could only walk or limp quickly, and I wondered if I’d ever be able to run with my dog again.
I didn’t want to go to the doctor. In my mind, he’d prescribe medication or recommend surgery, and neither were options I was ready to entertain at this point. Consequently, I decided to try an energy healer.
I Didn’t Have High Hopes
To be perfectly honest, I didn’t have great expectations. Despite having overcome my skepticism about a lot of bizarre abilities in the mind/body/spirit field, energy healing was one modality where I still had a lot of disbelief. That said, I was at least an open-minded skeptic.
I pay attention to serendipity, and I had four people in the span of a couple weeks recommend an energy healer named Jane Fecteau. These referrals came from healers themselves whom I already knew and trusted, so I deeply considered their recommendation. I pondered the idea for a couple more months, but finally decided to give Jane a try when I realized my knee was getting worse.
I Lived with Pain for Five Months Before Making the Appointment
Because I’d been limping and living with pain for five months, I felt confident that my body wasn’t going to heal the knee on its own. It was going to need some assistance. This was important to me because I’d experienced energy healing sessions in the past just for the sake of having the experience. The difference was that I didn’t have anything to heal when I had those sessions, so I never knew if the energy healing had any positive effect.
Now that I’d been experiencing physical pain in the same area of my body for five months, I knew that if the pain subsided following the energy healing session, I could reasonably give the energy healer credit for that result.
What I Learned About the Energy Healer
I visited intuitive healer Jane Fecteau with hesitant enthusiasm, but I didn’t tell her about my skepticism because I wanted to be polite. I later learned she wouldn’t have cared if I did tell her. Jane has healed lots of skeptics in her many years of practice. In fact, she enjoys seeing the dramatic awakening (and surprise) that occurs when these skeptical clients are healed.
Jane Fecteau is a slender, gentle woman with layers of curly hair that frame her face and cover her shoulders. What I immediately recognized (and liked) is the confidence she exudes in her work. Healing people comes second nature to her. Like me with the afterlife, she’s seen too much to expect anything but positive results.
What I found cool is that Jane became a healer because she went to an energy healer herself years ago. She resorted to trying an unconventional healing modality when conventional medicine was unable to heal her injuries from chemical exposure. Jane was so impressed by her own astounding healing that she studied to enhance her own energy healing abilities. That was many years ago and, today, she’s one of the most respected healers in New England, perhaps the world.
I’ve learned through the grapevine that physicians, nurses, chiropractors, massage therapists, and naturopaths often refer their patients to Jane, especially when these health practitioners are unable to help their patients using their own conventional practices. I appreciate when health practitioners can admit when they’re not succeeding and suggest alternative methods for healing. It shows they really care about their patients.
What My Energy Healing Session Was Like
When I arrived at her office, Jane and I chatted casually while she had me fill out some brief paperwork. Then she had me lay down on a table (fully clothed) while soothing music played in the background.
Jane verbally explained to me everything she was doing as she did it, which is something I particularly enjoyed. Sometimes she touched my knee or leg very gently, but mostly she just worked with the energy directly over my body.
Since she works with meridians (energy conduits in the body), and since an injury in one area of the body can affect other areas of the body, Jane moved from my left leg to my right leg to my left hip and even my right shoulder during the session. It was fascinating to watch because it really illustrated how a single injury to any physical structure (limb, ligament, or organ) can affect multiple areas of your body.
Jane explained she can view the body the way an MRI presents it. I would occasionally look up and see her staring into the air in front of her like she was examining a three-dimensional MRI image.
She kept saying, “You’ll probably feel a shift taking place as I do this,” or “You might feel some warmth or tingling,” but I never felt anything. I’m just not in tune with my body in that way and have never felt physical sensations the way some people do during mind/body/spirit sessions. It’s possible my skepticism blocks these sensations out.
Once the session was over, Jane warned that I might be sore the next day and feel a little tired. I really didn’t believe it would happen, but I did feel the need to take a nap the next day. I slept for a good two hours. More importantly, my knee felt great the day after the session. It wasn’t one hundred percent pain-free, but it was ninety percent better than it had been over the previous five months.
Jane called me the next day to see how I was doing, but I didn’t return her call. I’ve seen people experience a placebo effect after an alternative healing session, so I wanted to be sure I didn’t tell her on the phone that I felt better only to have the pain return the next day.
After three days of my knee feeling increasingly better, I emailed her about my concern related to the placebo effect and said I would let her know how I was doing after a couple weeks.
“Oh My God, I’m Running Without Pain!”
My knee felt better with each day that passed until I totally forgot it was ever injured. About two weeks after the session with Jane, I was visiting family in Connecticut who live and work at a private school. I’d taken Libby out for a walk in the morning and suddenly found myself running across the school fields with my dog running beside me. I ran. She chased. I dodged her. She ran away. I chased after her. She jumped and barked playfully.
Until I finally recognized, “Oh my God! I’m running without pain!”
I called Jane right then and there in the middle of the field. It was a Saturday, but she answered the phone.
“Jane, it’s Bob Olson. Forgive me if I sound out of breath, but I was just outside with my dog and suddenly realized that I was running beside her without pain. I honestly didn’t know if I’d ever run with her again. I’m so excited that I had to tell you.”
That was the moment my skepticism around energy healing dissolved.
I Returned for Follow-Up Sessions
When I called Jane after running in the field with Libby, I told her that I had experienced minor discomfort for two or three minutes at a time the week prior. It didn’t hurt while running with Libby and didn’t hurt at all as I talked to Jane on the phone, but I remembered having these brief moments of slight discomfort the week prior.
Jane said that what I was experiencing was equivalent to a memory of the injury, and that all I needed was maybe one or two more sessions to release that memory from my body. It made sense to me, so I went back to see her.
In my second session, Jane noticed that my left kneecap was a little out of alignment due to my compensating for the injury for so long. She told me that she was going to realign it, upon which she gently touched it with the tip of her finger (again I felt nothing).
The next day, though, my kneecap was sore, as if she really did realign it. Of course, she had warned me that this would likely happen, so I wasn’t worried when it did. The truth is I was actually surprised that my kneecap was sore at all, mind you that this was on the outside of my knee now, not inside the knee where my original pain had been located.
I said to my wife, Melissa, “This is amazing. I can really feel where she worked on me.” I was dumbfounded that Jane’s gentle touch could have such a significant effect.
A week later, I could still feel discomfort in my kneecap (not my ligament area), so I went back to see Jane for a third session. She said that healing isn’t always an overnight event, that it can be a process.
I laughed because I say that a lot about spiritual growth…it’s a process and not an event.
This Convinced Me Even More That Energy Healing Is Real
I’ll admit that my elation about healing my original problem was deflated a bit by this new kneecap issue. I finally got rid of one problem only to have a second issue pop up.
I now knew Jane’s healing abilities were real, but I wondered if realigning my kneecap had been a good idea. It turns out it was exactly what I needed because my knee is now completely healed. My left thigh muscle was a little weak due to months of favoring it, but I simply needed to build back my strength. The good news is that I now have no pain or discomfort in the ligament area or my kneecap.
I’m glad I went back for the second and third sessions because I got to experience how Jane’s work really had a physical result that I could feel. If she had just said that she realigned my kneecap and I never felt anything in the days following, I never would have known if she did or didn’t realign it. But there was no denying that my kneecap felt sore in the days that followed, just as it would have if a surgeon had realigned it.
The best news is that I didn’t need to have surgery. There was no anesthesia, no incision, and no pain medication to follow. I must admit, I love energy healing!
Energy Healing Is Legitimate — Who Knew?
Now that I’m healed, I’m excited to share this experience with you and others. I experienced a healing that was distinguishable and recognizable, not just something that is imperceptible or that I’ll have to wait until the future to know if it’s real (like a fortune teller’s prediction).
I felt the physical experience of pain that lasted for five months and then that pain disappeared after seeing an energy healer. I never really expected such a positive result, but now I’m grateful I gave it a try, which is why I’m sharing this with you.
Jane Works Remotely (By Telephone)
Although I had this experience in Jane’s office, it wasn’t necessary. Jane’s healing work is equally effective when working by phone. After all, she manipulates energy. Even though she gently touched my kneecap in her office, I’ve since learned that she only did that as an intention. She could have touched her own kneecap while talking over the phone as a surrogate for my kneecap. In fact, she could have touched her elbow or knuckle as a surrogate for my kneecap. Similar to the spiritual dimension, energy and intention are not limited by time and space. Subsequently, my appointments with Jane (I’ve seen her monthly since she healed my knee) have been over the phone since 2020.

PS, I wrote this article years ago, so I should tell you that I continue to see Jane regularly to this day. Melissa and I both do, although our appointments are now done over the phone. Here are a few other ways that Jane’s energy healing has helped me:
I’ve used Jane to alleviate a toothache when my dentist couldn’t figure out the cause. I waited a month for it to heal itself, which never happened. So I sought Jane’s assistance. It took three days after my appointment, but it got a little better each day until the pain was gone. A month later, I had more dental work and the pain returned. Once again, Jane helped the pain dissipate in three days.
Jane also helped me with pain in my thumb, which was an instant healing.
Jane healed an injury to my ribs after a slip and fall on the ice another year. This injury took about ten days to heal.
She’s also helped me to energize when I was feeling lethargic. I’ve done this several times. Each time, I’ve awakened the next day feeling renewed.
Jane even reduced my stress once during a particularly challenging time, allowing me to manage it with a greater sense of calm and peace.
Often I have no ailments that need attending, so I ask Jane to give me a tune-up. She covers multiple areas of my body in a single session, including my organs, cells, skeletal structure, and skin.
Considering I’ve been going to Jane for various pains and illnesses in the span of years, I can attest that she hasn’t been able to solve every single issue I’ve had. Based on my investigation of the afterlife, which has taught me a lot about life, I believe that there are some issues that aren’t meant to be solved until they are. In other words, I believe there’s a divine timing to healing in some cases because the injury or illness may be taking us on a journey of personal and spiritual growth. So when Jane’s unable to remedy an issue I’m having, I accept that I’m being guided toward something meaningful and new.
Important Disclaimer: While I certainly don’t recommend energy healing in place of traditional medical treatment, it works wonderfully alongside mainstream medical treatment. It especially can be helpful (and hopeful) when traditional medicine isn’t working or your doctor’s efforts have been exhausted.
