The Oldest Spirit Communication Method—Accessible to All!
A wonderfully simple way to connect with our loved ones in spirit without hiring a practitioner.
At the end of this article, there's a quick poll (two questions) that I'd love for you to take. Your feedback means a lot to me. Thank you! ♥️
For much of my adult life, I’ve been dedicated to sharing the wonderful world of spirit communication with others. It all started in the late 1990s when I first experienced a reading with a medium. This sparked my curiosity, prompting me to explore and connect with hundreds of mediums to delve deeper into the realm of human-to-spirit communication.
My journey ultimately inspired me to create Best Psychic Directory, a resource for helping people discover authentic and trustworthy mediums who can connect them with their cherished loved ones in spirit.
Having a reading with a medium can be a life-changing experience. However, only a few people are talking about a wonderfully simple way to connect with our loved ones in spirit without hiring a practitioner. It’s not fancy or complicated, which might be why it isn’t discussed often. Nevertheless, this method is just as effective as any other way to communicate with spirits.
Are you ready for it?
It’s called talking to your loved one directly. I sometimes refer to it as the “Walk and Talk” or the “Drive and Talk” (which doesn’t rhyme, so it’s not as catchy). All that’s required is to converse with your loved one in spirit in your mind.
I add “walking” or “driving” to the equation because it helps to focus on something else while communicating. You can do this while showering, knitting, painting the house, or even riding your bike—any repetitive activity we do almost unconsciously.
It’s important to know what to expect during this exercise. Don’t anticipate your loved one’s voice responding to you directly. While it is possible to hear their voice, many people find their own voice in their heads while still capturing the essence of their loved one’s words.
Here’s a true story about a “Walk and Talk” involving our dear friend, Phoebe, following the loss of her husband, David, who was also a cherished friend of ours. He was only thirty-eight at the time of his passing.
We met David and Phoebe when Melissa got a new job in the early 1990s. David was the first friendly coworker to introduce himself. The four of us became close friends and shared many adventures until David and Phoebe moved back to England a decade later.
A few days after David died, Phoebe had to register his death certificate with the town. On her walk home, she began talking to David in her mind, as she had been doing regularly since his passing. Usually, she spoke to him, trusting that he heard her. This time, she felt he was responding to her—she heard words in her head.
Because she was hearing her own voice, Phoebe wondered if it was just her imagination. She asked David to confirm that she was hearing him and not just imagining it. That’s when she heard David say, “Your mother wants to buy a blue dress.”
The next day, Phoebe saw her “mum” (as they say in England). Although hesitant to ask her mum about what David told her, she knew she needed to find out the truth. So she said, “Mum, did you recently buy a blue dress?”
Her mother said, “No, I didn’t. But yesterday, I saw a blue dress that I wanted. I returned to the shop five times but couldn’t bring myself to spend the money.”
It’s really that simple. What I love about this story is that Phoebe was smart enough to ask David for confirmation rather than just assuming her imagination was running wild. David then gave her information that was likely happening at that exact moment, information Phoebe couldn’t have known.
I also have a “Drive and Talk” story that occurred almost simultaneously.
The same day Phoebe received confirmation from her mother about the blue dress, Melissa talked to David while driving to a local sandwich shop in Cape Porpoise, Maine. Although she didn’t hear David speak back to her as Phoebe had, she trusted that David could hear her. As she parked in front of the sandwich shop, Melissa asked David to send her a sign that he heard her.
While waiting for the sandwiches to be made, Melissa stood by the cash register when a young female employee picked something up from the counter and handed it to her.
“Here, you want these?” said the girl.
Melissa held out her hand and asked, “What are they?”
The employee dropped something into Melissa’s hand, saying, “They’re two coins from England. Someone paid with them, and they’ve just been hanging around here.”
Melissa held the coins in her hand. One for me and one for Bob, she thought. Her eyes filled with tears, confusing the girl behind the counter.
“You have no idea what you just did,” Melissa told the girl. “We just lost a friend from England, and I was asking for a sign from him. Thank you for this.”
When Melissa got home, we each took one of the English coins. Melissa noticed that her coin was dated 1992, the year she met David.
We are fortunate to live in a time when mediums have become a household term, and they are readily available. Nonetheless, hiring a medium whenever we want to communicate with our loved ones in spirit is neither financially feasible nor necessary. All we need to do is talk to our loved ones in our minds and ask for a response. Sometimes, we may hear that response in our minds (as Phoebe experienced), while at other times, it may come as a different form of after-death communication (as Melissa experienced).
I’d love to hear your stories about this. Please share them in the comments section.
With love,
Bob

As funny as this may sound, I do most of my communication with my son while I'm showering. So i guess you could call my form of communication "shower and talk".
Bob, wonderful article. As a Psychic Medium I have always encouraged my clients to speak to their passed over loved ones directly. I let them know that we are all psychic and can easily reach out. One of my goals is to help everyone to understand the simplicity and joy of the psychic path. I feel I have truly succeeded, as a psychic reader, when a client leaves my office and only comes back to me with stories of their own psychic experiences and how it has helped them. Can you imagine...a world...a world where we are all in the flow with our psychic selves? I can...I truly can.
