Hi Lisa, it's very kind of you to take the time to offer this wonderful feedback. I agree that the more we learn about the afterlife, the more comforted we feel. The evidence I uncovered over the last 26 years never fails to offer hope, comfort and peace, which is why it's very fulfilling to share it here on Substack. Thank you!

I found this comforting. My late husband and I had a dog, Willie, which we rescued as a puppy. Willie was our first dog as a married couple and lived 17 years. Not long after we had to say goodbye to Willie, I had a dream that felt so real I prefer to call it a visitation.

Our oldest son had a full length mirror in his bedroom and in the visitation, Willie came out of the mirror, young, healthy and joyful! He wanted me to know he was more than okay now. I had been grieving his death so seeing him made me feel so happy. Willie knew I wanted him to stay and he started to look sad. He was conveying to me that if he were to stay, he’d only age, suffer and die again. I knew I couldn’t be selfish and expect him to stay so I let him go. I woke up and felt more comforted than sad. That was February of 2001 and I still remember that experience so clearly.

Less than 2 weeks ago one of my 3 cats had to be euthanized. Zack was 18 years old and had the best personality.

We had had him since he was 8 weeks old. Zack was my buddy, but in 2021 when my husband of 38+ years was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, Zack became my husband’s constant companion. My husband died the end of December of 2021.

Zack followed me around everywhere and cuddled with me- he was the best cat!

It had recently become so obvious that Zack was not doing well and was very uncomfortable. I made the very difficult decision to say goodbye to Zack. What struck me about that last day was that he was so calm and quiet in the car on the way to the vet (usually he’d loudly protest) and he seemed very calm and quiet while the vet was checking him out.

When it was time for the vet to give Zack the needle, Zack lay there, peacefully, his eyes wide open. I really felt as though he seemed relieved that his suffering would come to an end. I also felt strongly that my late husband’s spirit was there to escort Zack to the afterlife. I like to believe they are together again. ❤️

Thank you, Karen, for telling us about Willie and Zack. How wonderful that Willie visited you in that dream. One of the signs of a real dream visitation is that we remember the dream vividly many years later as if it had occurred the night prior--just as you have. I have no doubt your husband was there to greet Zack. And how lovely that Zack comforted him in the end. It's SO difficult to choose to have a pet euthanized. It was very difficult for me with Libby. I learned because of that it can be a compassionate choice made out of love. I appreciate you. Best wishes.

Thank you, Bob, this really helps knowing we will see them in the afterlife. I’ve always felt it to be true anyway. My pets come to me in my dreams. The day I had to put my cat down during Covid, I couldn’t go in to be with her when she was put down. I felt so bad because I’m always there with our pet’s during that time. She came to me in the dream that night beautiful and healthy. She let me know it was okay and she was happy. I don’t remember her saying any words , so yes it’s thought communicated. I felt better.

Thanks for sharing your story, Rita. Our loved ones in spirit, including pets, know the reasons we do things. Many who died during Covid had to be alone, yet they understand the reasons why. Once they've crossed over to the higher side of life, they are in such peace and love that those details no longer matter. What matters is that we love them, and now they know this with a depth of knowing that is unattainable in physical form. Your cat knew you felt bad and so she blessed you by visiting you in that dream. It's a wonderful story.

Thank you Bob. Your article is reassuring after the sudden death of our 130 lb

Tibetan Mastiff on January 1st. We feel him in the house and yard. We don't know why he suddenly died, and years before we thought he would. Your article is comforting and very helpful. Thank you Bob!

You're welcome, Joan. I'm so sorry you lost your sweet Mastiff. Wow, 130 pounds is like two or three dogs. It's true, some dogs only stay around long enough to teach us valuable lessons, then they go home. It's devastating to lose them, especially given how loving, loyal, and adorable they are. I highly recommend a reading with an animal communicator one day if you can make that work. It can be quite healing. My best wishes to you.

Hi Bob, another lovely piece. In fact, only today I was talking to girlfriends about animals having souls and two days ago, I was looking amongst my books for Kim Sheridan's 'Animals and the Afterlife', which I read a few years ago. Synchronicity again!

An angle on this that often perplexes. even vexes some people, is how can we eat animal flesh if we know they have souls? Some of us can't - I'm vegan with the exception of eggs from next-door's happy chickens (all rescues from batteries). They are so happy and friendly and I know I am anthropomorphising here, perhaps they are happy for us to take their eggs in gratitude for being rescued! But I digress. It's clear that the human race is incredibly genetically diverse, so it's logical that some of us actually need to eat meat in order to function. I'm glad I'm one that doesn't.

I look forward to your Substack articles.

Thank you.

Thank you, Sue. That's a lot of synchronicity! You've had your fill for one day.

Melissa doesn't eat meat, except eggs! I eat meat but typically not at home (since Melissa doesn't). If we go out to eat, I always try to meat up. I appreciate you sharing. I love learning about people (and it's fun to see how much we have in common). Thanks for enjoying my articles. Keep smiling!
